TYPES OF LICENSES AND LEVIES ISSUED BY THE COUNCIL
The following are the types of licenses which Luano Town Council is currently issuing;
FIRE ARM LICENSE
Firearm License is issued to people who own registered fire arms (guns). To obtain the said license you have to follow the following procedure: Go to any nearest police and get a gun Inspection form at a given fee. Then once approved by Zambia Police you bring it to the Council where you will be issued with a certificate (license) upon paying a certain fee .The Council official will endorse on that fire certificate every time the renewal is being made
LIQUOR LICENSE
This is a license issued to a trader dealing in liquor which includes lagers, spirits and wines. The procedure to obtain this one is as follows; the Health Inspector inspects the premises and once he is satisfied, he can advise the Finance Officers to issue the said license.
BUSINESS LEVY
A business levy is required to be paid by any business house doing business doing business in the district. This could be trade, mining, banking and also general production of goods and services.
TRADITIONAL HEALER’S LICENCE
This is a license which is issued to Traditional Doctors who are registered with Traditional Health Practitioner Association of Zambia (THAPAZ) and have a valid practicing license. Once the Accounting Staff is satisfied he can now issue out the license
HEALTH PERMIT
A health permit is issued after an application in a prescribed form is made to the Local Authority before 31st October of a calendar year for the following year. This entails that if someone for example needs a health permit for the year 2020, an application must be made by 31st October, 2019. After an application is received by the local authority, it is submitted to the licensing committee who upon being satisfied approves the permit and thereafter the health permit is issued to the trader.
